Sacred Crossing
Soul-Centered End-of-Life Support
Brisbane, Australia - Worldwide
What would matter most if your health changed significantly?
What does a good quality of life look like to you? What doesn't?
Who do you trust to speak for you if you could no longer speak for yourself, and what would you want them to say?
These are some of life's most important questions. You are the expert on your own life. My name is James Cutler, and my role is to help you maintain choice, capacity, and control throughout your journey, ensuring that your values, wishes, and voice remain at the center of every decision. As an End-of-Life Doula, Reiki Master, and Celebrant, I walk alongside individuals and their loved ones with compassion, grace, and presence. From living well after a diagnosis, through end-of-life care, active dying, remembrance, and bereavement, I offer Soul-Centered support tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.
An End of Life Doula (also known as a Death Doula, Death Walker, or End of Life Guide), James Cutler is a non-medical support professional who provides emotional, social, practical, psychological, and spiritual support to individuals and their loved ones throughout the end-of-life journey. This role does not replace family, friends, healthcare professionals, nurses, allied health practitioners, or care workers. Rather, it complements these important relationships and services, often helping to bridge gaps in support, communication, planning, and advocacy.
End of Life Doulas support people who wish to proactively think about, discuss, learn, plan, and document what matters most to them in life and at the end of life. They create a safe and compassionate space for meaningful conversations about living, dying, death, and after-death wishes, helping individuals maintain choice, capacity, and control over their journey. They can also advocate for the person’s values and preferences, ensuring their voice remains central to decision-making.
Support may include guidance through life-limiting illness, assistance navigating services and care options, legacy and life-story work, advance care planning, vigil support, and bereavement care. End of Life Doulas can also assist in co-creating personalised funeral or memorial ceremonies while a person is still able to participate in the planning. Through deep listening, presence, and compassionate support, they help individuals and their loved ones navigate one of life’s most significant transitions with dignity, meaning, and connection.
Choosing someone to walk alongside you through life’s most meaningful conversations is a deeply personal decision. That’s why I offer a complimentary 30–45 minute consultation, either by phone or over a cup of coffee, in a relaxed and informal setting. This is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what is important to you, and see whether we resonate. Just as importantly, it’s a chance for you to decide whether I am the right person to support you on your journey.
You are the expert on your own life. I believe that what is meant for us will not pass us by, and when there is alignment, the connection feels natural and unforced. People often tell me I am easy to talk to, bringing warmth, humour, compassion and empathy to conversations that can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming. My role is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore what matters most—dignity, choice, closure, completion, legacy, peace, and living with as few regrets as possible. There is no pressure and no obligation, just an open conversation to discover whether we are a good fit for the path ahead.

About James
James Cutler’s career has been defined by one consistent thread: creating meaningful human experiences. Across four decades, his work has evolved from the creative energy of music and live performance, through the high-pressure world of large-scale event production, and into the deeply personal and transformative work of end-of-life care and ceremony. Originally from Denver, James began his professional journey as a musician and artist, developing an early appreciation for the emotional power of storytelling, connection, rhythm, and presence. Performing and creating within the arts laid the foundation for a career built on intuition, adaptability, and an understanding of how people gather, celebrate, grieve, and connect. Now based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, James offers in-person end-of-life guidance and support for those living in this region of the country, or for those living internationally, his services are available via Zoom meetings, phone calls or other forms of communication. As an End of Life Doula, James walks alongside people through their end-of-life journey, helping them bring meaning and completion to life. He meets each person exactly where they are with compassion and grace, offering soul-centered support for their emotional, spiritual, and practical end-of-life needs. As a Reiki Master, he brings a calming, restorative energy to those navigating grief, illness, and transition. As a celebrant, he crafts deeply personal ceremonies that honor each person’s story with authenticity, warmth, and meaning. Seen together, the arc of James’s career reflects a rare and powerful evolution: from artist, to producer of large shared experiences, to guide through life’s final and most sacred moments. Across every chapter, his work has remained centered on the same purpose — helping people feel seen, connected, supported, and transformed.

“James was phenomenal in how involved he became with our family during my mother-in-law’s end-of-life process. He provided great comfort to her and made sure she lived her last days to the fullest. He was there for all of us and made the whole experience a celebration of her life. We appreciate James and what he did for our family during difficult times.”

“James Cutler is one of those rare individuals whose presence alone brings steadiness, comfort, and genuine human connection. His sincerity is unmistakable—you feel it the moment he offers his calm attention, his gentle smile, and his willingness to truly listen. James has a gift for helping others express their feelings without fear or pressure, creating a space where emotions can be released and understood with compassion.
His own life’s journey—rooted in meditation, introspection, and deep personal awareness—has shaped him into someone who meets others with warmth that radiates from the inside out. He carries a depth of feeling that allows him to walk beside people during life’s most vulnerable transitions, offering support that is both grounding and uplifting.
End‑of‑life care requires a special kind of person, someone who can hold both the gravity and the beauty of that moment. James does this naturally. He brings an engaging presence, a comforting steadiness, and a sense of transformation that helps families and individuals feel safe, seen, and supported. His smile draws you in, but it’s his heart that stays with you.
I recommend James without hesitation. Anyone who invites him into their journey will be met with sincerity, compassion, and a profound sense of peace.”
